The weekend

The weekend was good. A group of us went to a beer festival and enjoyed many "tasters", lots of pizza and a walk on the beach after we were done. We needed some fresh air before driving home.

Saturday we played cards with friends at night, and had a bbq. We played a chinese card game.

One of my favourite vintage clothing stores is closing down soon. I'm devastated! There are very few good vintage stores in our area. The store is having sales until September, but I'm really disappointed. I loved having a coffee/cup of tea in a cafe nearby, reading in the sun or writing in my journal before hopping over to the vintage store for some expensive "browsing":) I guess I'll have to make the trek to LA for the flea markets from now on! Pasadena here I come.

Western Australia

I come from this adorable town in Australia, and thought I'd share some photo's from one of my favourite spots. How I miss it here. I've been feeling nostalgic recently, and longing to be back there.

We used to 4-wheel drive out here and camp on the beach. Catch fish, bury it to keep it cool overnight, then bbq it for breakfast. It was truly the best.
I'm too much of a city girl these days to live in such quiet surroundings. But I long to be able to do things like that on the weekends, sometimes:)

Scrapbooking and Bogart

So back to my scrapbook. Often when I'm feeling inspired I can think of things that will look beautiful together. But then there will be other times I'm feeling completely uninspired and end up throwing on teeshirt, converse sneakers and jeans. Blah! Thats fine for work - I like to feel comfortable, and I'm working in a laid back area by the beach. But sometimes that translates over to after work activities, eg. going to the pub. I have a gazillion clothes - yet sometimes I'll get all confused when faced with too many options.

I just bought this skirt from Urban Outfitters:-

I'm waiting for it to arrive in the mail. And it will be a lot longer on short me! I'm thinking knee length. I'm looking forward to its arrival!

I think it has a nice vintage look/feel to it!

And the earrings, what can I say? They're cute!

The weekend here was good. I went to independence Jam with a bunch of friends. There was a pretty cruisy atmosphere and we rocked out to Flogging Molly! In the afternoon we sat and played cards on the lawn. Flogging Molly had so much energy.

I really enjoyed the band "The Whigs". I'll have to youtube them later.

Yesterday I watched "The Big Sleep" with Bogart & Bacall. Its a classic I know, but I had a real hard time following it. There were so many characters, a thick plot. Maybe it was too heavy for 4 o'clock in the afternoon!
I also got out Captain Corelli's Mandolin - which I've been hearing a lot about, but never seen!

NineWest

I finally created a scrapbook/lookbook at home. Because I never know what to wear last minute.

I love these shoes just now.

But I already own 17 pairs of dressy shoes I don't get to wear enough. Because I wear flats/flip flops to work every day. I'm a girl of comfort.

The Australian Returns

I just got back from a trip to Australia. It was pure bliss. Although its May there and almost winter, it was warm and the beaches were ever as beautiful.

It was wonderful seeing my closest friends. Catching up, having lots of good laughs. One thing I realised when going home - Sydney girls are very very fashionable! Way more so than California girls I think.

All things Vintage

On Sunday I headed to this vintage shop nearby and found a dress that fit me perfectly!! Its brown and orange and very 70's. I'm in love! I'm sure my mum would have owned a dress similar! My husband things its a little weird - but thats ok. I'm fine with weird. I'll have to post an image up. Also I found this delightful cream rose brooch that is delicate and beautiful.

This weekend should be good. We're going to a bbq on Sunday and SLEEPING IN!!! I'm feeling tired lately. We've been working full time and having busy weekends the last 2 months. So this weekend I've assigned Sunday as "sleep in day". Phone's off. Breakfast out. It should be wonderful.

A waste of a Sunday evening...

I'm sitting here feeling really disappointed. A friend of mine and I had arranged to watch an old movie together at her place. So I arrive - and there was another friend there - who brought along her sister. Her sister was a nightmare and wouldn't stop talking non-stop about nothing and interrogating me for 2 1/2 hrs. After that time I texted my husband to pick me up. I love watching old movies and had looked forward to it all weekend. Oh well. Had to tell someone. Someone being people I don't know. Somehow that makes me feel better. Or maybe its that it is writing is so therapeutic.

I ended up buying those NineWest Heech Sandals. Story: I bought them in the size 8 - was so excited I went out and wore them to dinner as soon as they arrived. Realised they were too small. Aaaggghhh! Quickly got online and bought the size 8.5 - which arrived and fit perfectly. So I ended up ebay-ing the first pair and getting $50 more than I paid for them. Cool huh?! I knew they would ebay well, so wasn't too bothered about instantly buying the 8.5's - even though I had the worn 8's in my hot little hands. Lesson learned - try the shoes on properly before wearing!! How silly of me.

Today my husband and I went to a cute little cafe and played a boardgame and drank mexican hot chocolates. mmmm!

I start at 8am tomorrow so I'm going to try and find a good show to watch and try and salvage the rest of my precious Sunday evening.
